Open to students in the Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions only.

The International History Olympiad has featured a competitive Historical Simulation since its inaugural event in 2015.

UNSC, 1991: The fall of the Soviet Union is one of the most significant events in human history, but 1991 was not simply about Eastern Europe. The entire world is in conflict and dealing with the breakdown of the post-war political order, and looking for a way to enter the new millennium. Join us in this simulation representing the member nations of the United Nations Security Council as they deal with geopolitical turmoil, building a new global economic order, and appreciating that history has not quite ended yet.
Please note that students will not have one specific topic to deal with in this scenario, but instead manage the variety of global crises that face the Security Council in this pivotal moment. As a result, students are encouraged to develop as strong an understanding of historical context surrounding this time period as possible.
