Sint Maarten / Saint Martin is the smallest island in the world to be divided between two countries – the northern 60% is French; the southern 40% is Dutch.

When: Day 3, Tuesday, 21 July, 8am-12pm

All participating students will have the chance to do some island sightseeing – and visit two countries in the process! – when the Carnival Fascination docks in Sint Maarten (the port is on the Dutch side) on Day 3. Students will have a chance to visit both the French and Dutch sides of the island and learn more about its history from pre-colonial times through the devastation wrought by Hurricane Irma in 2017. No competitions are scheduled on this morning so that all students can sightsee. In the afternoon, students can either return to the ship for competitions or relaxation or go on other shore excursions.
