Beginning on Friday, June 13, Competing Students and Family and Friends Program Extended Option Participants who have signed up for the 2025 International History Olympiad will be able to select their optional competitions and sightseeing opportunities. The Event Selection forms will be linked on the registration page and will be sent out to all participants by email. On Tuesday, June 10, an email with further details, including the various field trip destinations, times, and size limits, will be sent out so that participants will have three days to look things over before deciding on their events. Event Selection will run for two weeks, and will then close on Friday, June 27.
Students and Family and Friends Program Extended Option Participants can adjust their events during the Event Selection period, but there are no guarantees that any events other than the Scramble can be added after June 27. The Scramble topic will be revealed on July 8 in an email to all participants as well as on the Registration page on the website, where a supplementary registration form for it will then be available. Students who are interested in competing in the Scramble can then register for it until July 11. Participants who are uncertain as to whether or not they will want to take part in the Scramble should plan initially on the contingency that they will not in fact take part (i.e. they are encouraged to sign up for other events that run concurrently with it). If they do then wish to take part in the Scramble once the topic is revealed, then their vacated spots on any field trips may be offered on a limited first-come, first-served basis to other participants.
