International Academic Competitions, the organization in charge of the International History Olympiad, is already looking forward to the 7th International History Olympiad, which will be held in Summer 2027. Most likely, the Olympiad will be held in London, though other cities under consideration include Berlin, or less likely, Tokyo. The next Olympiad will very likely include a host hotel, in addition to one or more host schools, as it continues to grow. In 2023, the Olympiad had 258 Competing Students, and in 2025 it had 432. With the continued growth of the Olympiad’s feeder competitions in Asia, Canada, Europe, Oceania, the USA, and the likely launch before 2027 of additional competitions in Africa, Australia, and Latin America, we would not be surprised if the 2027 Olympiad had 600 or more Competing Students. As soon as a host city and venue have been determined, as well as the dates of the competition, further details will be posted to this website.
In the meantime, we encourage all students to consider joining us for the 2026 International Geography Championships at the JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Khao Lak, Thailand, from July 5-12, 2026. This event is similar to the International History Olympiad in structure, though with a focus on geography instead of history. The International Geography Championships is held in even-numbered summers; the International History Olympiad is held in odd-numbered summers.
