International Academic Competitions is excited to announce that the 2023 International History Olympiad will now be held in Rome from July 23-31! Originally, the 2023 Olympiad had been slated to be held in Poland but due to geopolitical concerns, IAC has taken the decision to hold the Olympiad in Italy instead. The new draft calendar of events has been posted on the website here, where you can also find descriptions of each of the many individual components of the Olympiad. Highlights include numerous sightseeing opportunities, including the Roman Forum and Coliseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican, an optional full-day trip to Naples and Pompeii, and a walking tour taking in the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and many other historic sites. The competitions will take full advantage of these sites as well, with the Sports History Bee taking place in the Circus Maximus, the Roman History Bee finals taking place in the Coliseum, and the Catholic History Bee finals taking place in St. Peter’s Square! Please explore the website for lots more details, and please reach out to us at olympiad@iacompetitions.com if you have any further questions. A presto in Roma in Summer MMXXIII!
